A well known local documentary series called “Heroines in the Storm,” produced by Wandering Journalist Productions, has been selected to be screened at the upcoming Belleville Downtown DocFest.
The fourth episode, titled “The War at Home,” will be shown on Saturday, February 24 at 10 am.
This episode highlights the contributions of women on the homefront during wartime, including the Gibbard Girls from Napanee. These women played a crucial role in supporting the war effort by helping Gibbards adapt to wartime conditions and produce essential items like ammunition boxes and ships’ wheels.
The documentary series is based on the book “Extraordinary Women Extraordinary Times: Canadian Women of WWII” by local author Sherry Pringle.
