This week has been proclaimed Heritage Week by Greater Napanee Town Council.
Since 1974, Canada has recognized the third Monday of every February as Heritage Day. In 1985, the Ontario government extended the celebration by designating the third week of February as Ontario Heritage Week, beginning with the federal Heritage Day.
Councillor Bill Martin, the sitting councillor on the heritage committee, had this message to the community.
He went on to suggest some local historical landmarks like town hall, Macpherson house, and the Museum of Lennox and Addington.
Mayor Terry Richardson had this to say about our history.
This year, Heritage Week will take place from February 19th to the 25th.
