Saturday, the D&D Electrocraft Napanee U18 Stars defeated Douro 4-1. The Dukes scored in the first, but Napanee outshot them 11-3. In the second, Jayden Holden found the open side on a pass from Zered Haller. Six Dukes’ minor penalties in the third period helped the Stars score three power play goals. Caleb South had two, and Tivon James got credit for the other one in a period that saw the Stars outshoot their opponents 14-1. Earlier, the U18’s shut out Loyalist 12-0 with hat tricks by Dylan Kemp and Holden. Other scorers were Owen Kish (2), Kohen Cutler, South, Carter Slaven and Haller. Sunday they doubled up on Stirling 4-2 in a road tilt. The U18’s got goals from the sticks of Slaven (2), Kish, and Blake Wood.
The U15 Napanee Stars were in Campbellford Friday to edge their hosts 2-1. Brock Alaver tallied twice- once in each of the second and third periods, after the squad trailed in the first. Bauer Desveaux gained the shutout. Facing Frontenac, the Stars prevailed in another nailbiter 5-4. Rory Williams tallied seconds in, and Colton Lockridge scored midway in the second. Callen Wilson tied it at three apiece with five minutes left in the middle frame. Zac Wilde and Quinn McConnell re-established the Stars’ lead, before the Flyers got a late goal.
The Cpk Interior Products U11B Napanee Stars defeated Norwood on Sunday at the SPC with a solid 3-1 victory. Hunter O’Hoski put the Stars on the board in the first with a backhand from the side of the net. Hunter Armstrong made it 2-1 when his shot trickled through the goalie, and Ford Fairbairn evaded two defenders to shoot low under the goalie’s glove. Shots favoured the Stars 24-11. Saturday in the County, they gave a very solid performance to win 7-3.
The U11D Stars travelled to Ennismore to face that centre’s D’s, and came away with a 2-2 tie. After a scoreless first, their hosts scored two minutes into the second. Harrison Van Derhayden- Sharpe notched the first of two to even the score. In the third, the Stars held the lead for seven seconds, then shut the door the rest of the way with solid defense. Paul Thompson earned an assist, and Brogan Carroll was between the pipes. The locals were penalty free, too. Sunday at home, they struggled faced Brighton, losing 11-1.
