New this winter at the Museum of Lennox and Addington, you’ll have a chance to explore early Ontario folk songs through a contemporary perspective. This new exhibit, “Cross Cut: Folk Songs of Early Ontario”, features the work of visual artist Rob Niezen.
Using linocuts, Niezen brings a fresh perspective to folk songs, exploring their narratives through a concept called ‘crosscutting.’
Folk songs, being the creation of real people sharing authentic human stories, make global issues relatable to everyone.
The goal of the exhibit is to connect our recent history with today’s society, encouraging us to reflect on the challenges faced by citizens of Ontario and Canada. It poses questions about progress, the lessons learned from history, and whether life has truly improved.
This captivating exhibit will be open to the public from February 3rd to May 25th, 2024. You won’t want to miss the grand opening and talk with Niezen on February 20th at 7pm.
Admission is just $3 and free for ages 12 and under.
