The provincial government has launched a new long-term care home investigations unit.
The 10-person unit will be used to investigate the 11 offences listed under the Fixing Long-Term Care Act.
Minister of Long-Term Care Stan Cho went over what a few of those charges are.
Cho says if you’re cutting corners, you will be caught.
There are 11 listed offences under the FTCA the unit will be investigating, such as neglecting residents, falsifying reports and ongoing non-compliance that if appropriate, could lead to heavy fines and possible imprisonment.
