Three individuals have now been charged in connection to a stolen vehicle chase in Napanee.
On January 10, 2024, around 12:30 p.m., Lennox and Addington OPP tried to stop a vehicle after receiving information from Kingston City Police. The vehicle, with two people wearing masks, was spotted at 12:46 p.m. driving north on County Road 4 from Hwy 401.
When the police tried to pull over the vehicle, it didn’t stop. To bring it to a halt, they used a spike belt. The vehicle eventually stopped at Dundas Street west and Slash Road in Napanee. The driver was arrested without any issues before he could get out of the vehicle. However, the two male passengers fled on foot.
The OPP’s ERT, TRU, and Canine units were called in. After searching the area, the two males were found hiding in a dumpster at 1:34 p.m. Both individuals were arrested without any problems and taken back to the police detachment. They were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged George Maxwell, age 53, of Eldon Township with:
- Operation while prohibited
- Failure to comply with undertaking – Two counts
- Flight from peace officer
- Dangerous operation
- Possession break in instruments
- Possession Property obtained by crime over $5000
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Kristopher Rose, age 35, of Huntsville with:
- Resist Peace officer
- Possession break in instruments
- Possession Property obtained by crime over $5000
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Jason Kell, age 38, of Trent Lakes, with:
- Resist Peace officer
- Possession break in instruments
- Possession Property obtained by crime over $5000
All three accused were held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee.
