A coalition of health and environmental groups is raising concerns about plans to expand gas-fired electricity in Greater Napanee. They’re hosting a virtual town hall later today to discuss the risks and urge action to protect public health and the environment.
Dr. Mili Roy from the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment stresses the urgent need to phase out gas-fired electricity due to its impact on the climate and public health.
The coalition aims to inform affected citizens about the consequences of these expansion plans. They argue that building new gas plants is unnecessary, costly, and risks worsening the climate crisis.
Jack Gibbons, chair of Ontario Clean Air Alliance, urges Greater Napanee to reject new gas plants in the community, emphasizing the need for cleaner options.
