The Town of Greater Napanee has a new mural in the works, highlighting the history of our local veterans.
myFM spoke with Peggy Sunstrum, President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 137, who told us the town approached them last year as they were looking for a home for a new mural.
The mural being created by artist Shane Goudreau will feature artwork of the Flower Class corvette HMCS Napanee and portraits of local veterans.
Goudreau’s artwork is well known in town, as he also painted the artwork on the silos at L&A Mutual Insurance Co.
Sunstrum told us that as the mural is being painted, the local veterans are being recognized.
The Napanee legion is very proud to be home to this new art instillation.
Once the art is complete, the legion will be hosting a celebration to thank the Atura Power Napanee Generating Station, the Town of Greater Napanee, and the I HeART Main Street Program, who all provided funding.
