A Canadian singer-songwriter legend is being remembered today.
The tributes for Gordon Lightfoot are pouring in after his death yesterday.
Tom Cochrane calls Lightfoot an inspiration, and one of Canada’s “seminal cultural artists” and “a heck of a nice guy.”
Former Ontario premier Bob Rae describes Lightfoot as “such a decent man” and a “musician with a magnificent tenor voice that will last forever,” while Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield says his “poetry and melodies are an eternal inspiration.”
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says “We have lost one of our greatest singer-songwriters.”
Some of his decades-old hits include If You Could Read My Mind, Sundown and Summer Side of Life.
Lightfoot died last night of natural causes at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital at the age of 84.
