The Napanee Raiders played their final game of the regular season this weekend, that saw the Raiders win in overtime.
Friday evening’s home game was cancelled due to the impending snowstorm.
Saturday, March 4th, the Raiders traveled to Frankford to play the Huskies. Napanee opened scoring in the first with a goal by Reid Lambert. Michael Patrick then scored early in the second period to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead. A few minutes later the Huskies scored their first of the night. Shortly thereafter Ben White scored the Raiders third goal of the night. Frankford scored one more to end the period 3-2. The third period saw one loan goal for the Huskies to tie the game, forcing overtime action. Nappanee’s Ben White was able to score his second of the night and the game winning goal for the Raiders.
The Napanee Raiders ended their regular season action top spot in the East Tod Division standings with a 35-5-1 record and 71 points. Currently in 2nd place is the Jets who have 53 points, 3rd place is Picton with 50, in 4th is Port Hope with 45, locked in 5th place is Frankford with 33 points, and Campbellford locked in in 6th with 9 points.
The Napanee raiders have some time off to practice and stay sharp as they wait for their spot in the second round of the playoffs to begin. This week will see Frankford in Port Hope Wednesday, March 8th for game 1 in their first-round playoff series, and Picton hosting Campbellford Thursday, March 9th.
