A Windsor teen has been charged after crashing a stolen vehicle in Loyalist Township.
Lennox and Addington OPP responded to a traffic complaint Wednesday morning on Highway 401 in Tyendinaga Township.
After attempting a traffic stop, the vehicle sped away. An investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen.
Officers later learned of a single vehicle collision in Loyalist Township. Officers arrived and confirmed it was the same vehicle from earlier.
After fleeing the area on foot, the accused was located and arrested.
The 18-year-old faces multiple charges including:
- Dangerous operation
- Flight from peace officer
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Unlawfully in dwelling house
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
- Fail to stop for police
- Fail to remain
- Driving while under suspension
- Fail to properly wear seat belt
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
- Possess unmarked fine cut tobacco
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
