The forecast is currently looking pretty cool for the 2023 Coldest Night of the Year walk in Greater Napanee.
As of Thursday evening, 80% of the $100,000 total had been raised.
myFM spoke with Organizer Lynda Carney, who says it’s been very exciting over the last week watching the total continue to grow.
Money raised from the walk in Napanee is going to support the Morningstar Mission.
Morningstar Mission Executive Director Kevin Alkenbrack says Morningstar is built on the generosity of the community.
Following the walk Saturday, donations will continue to be accepted online until the end of March.
Walkers will begin to gather at 4pm in the parking lot of Trinity United Church in Napanee. Opening remarks from organizers, the Mission and Napanee Mayor Terry Richardson are set to begin at 4:45pm, with walkers taking to the streets of downtown Napanee at 5pm. Following the walk, participants are invited to warm up and have some delicious Mission food in the basement of Trinity United Church.
