It is not what we were all hoping to wake-up to on Christmas Eve.
Weather warnings remain in place all across Ontario, with snow, ice and wind still being major concerns for many regions.
Driving conditions are so bad that several major highways are closed including big stretches of the 401. OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt gave an update on Twitter and says the big shutdowns will stay in place until all stranded vehicles have been removed and the roadway’s conditions have been improved.
In Greater Napanee, the Public Works Department closed County Road 8 at Palace Road (North end of closure), extending South to County Road 22.
According to Hydro One, almost 75,000 customers are still in the dark.
Many issues are also facing those who planned to travel by air, with flights and cancellations filling up boards in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Stateside, officials in the U-S say more than 4300 flights were cancelled Friday.
The Canadian Press reports Seattle-Tacoma International Airport had the most cancellations, followed by Chicago O’Hare, LaGuardia, Detroit, Chicago Midway, Portland, and Denver.
