Very exciting news for students at Napanee District Secondary School!
Limestone District School Board was selected to receive new equipment to update their manufacturing technology shops, enhancing the experiential learning part of the program for students.
This is part of a new program launched by the Canadian Tooling and Machining Association and the Ontario Council for Technology Education.
myFM spoke with Becky Mair, Manufacturing/Welding Technology Education Teacher at NDSS, who told us a bit about the program as it stands.
She says the recent announcement of new equipment is amazing and exciting news and that a lot of the students are already super excited.
For Mair, it’s that feeling she gets when the students are so excited that they’ve done something they didn’t think they could do. Or the exciting feeling of watching her students going through the emotions of “I think I found something I really enjoy. I think I found somewhere that I’m happy and feel welcomed and comfortable.”
Mair also says community involvement in this program has been amazing, getting the students out in co-op positions where they can take with them the skills they will learn on this new equipment.
