The province of Ontario is making a big investment to bring high speed internet to 339 municipalities through eight internet service providers by the end of 2025. The province is investing nearly $4 billion dollars in the project, which will see up to 266,000 unserved and underserved homes and businesses.
Bell Canada will provide internet locally to Addington Highlands, Central Frontenac, Centre Hastings, Deseronto, Greater Napanee, Madoc, North Frontenac, South Frontenac, Stone Mills, Tweed, and Tyendinaga, with over $483 million dollars that would cover nearly 83,000 underserved and unserved homes and businesses.
Rogers Communications Canada Inc. will provide internet to a number of communities including Prince Edward County, with $171 million dollars that would cover nearly 90,000 underserved and unserved homes and businesses.
And Xplornet Communications Inc. will provide internet to locally to Central Frontenac, Kingston, Loyalist, South Frontenac, and Stone Mills, with $240 million dollars that would cover nearly 55,000 underserved and unserved homes and businesses.
