Two awards were handed out during last nights Town of Greater Napanee Council meeting.
The first award was for the 2022 Senior of the Year in Greater Napanee. When presenting the award to this years recipient Judy Smith, Napanee Mayor Marg Isbester said that this is one of their best compliments to anyone.
Councillor John McCormack, who nominated Judy, commented on all that she does in our community including farming for as long as he can remember.
Judy says it is an honour to be senior of the year in Greater Napanee.
Another award presented was the Municipal Arts & Culture Committee Member Award & Recognition – Lifetime Achievement. This years recipient, Tim Nimigan, who has served the community for many years. He taught art at Napanee District Secondary School 30 years, he drew comics in the Napanee Beaver, and was vice-chair before becoming chair of the Greater Napanee Arts Advisory Committee.
Nimigan oversaw a public art initiative called ‘Pallet’able Art Program, that can be seen throughout the community. Nimigan spoke before the crowd in town hall, of how popular the ‘Pallet’able Art was right off the bat with tourists.
Nimigan was very thankful of this award.
