Two people from Loyalist have been charged in connection to an illegal lottery being held through Facebook.
Lennox and Addington OPP say an investigation revealed nearly $700,000 had been obtained during the lottery scheme, of which more than $100,000 was fraudulently used.
A 46-year-old from Loyalist Township has been charged with Lottery Scheme, Laundering Proceeds of Crime, Fraud Over $5000, Theft Over $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000. A 51-year-old from Loyalist Township has also been charged with Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.
Both of the accused were released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
