Don’t get SMISHED by a scammer.
The term used by police describes a cyberscam that involves sending an email or text claiming that there was a failure to deliver merchandise you ordered.
If you click the embedded link you’re taken to the website of what appears to be a reputable shipper but it’s a fake site. From their fraudsters can get your credit card number and other financial information is you follow the prompts and input the data.
If you order merchandise online for home delivery always use the original confirmation email and link you received from the shipper to track the delivery process. Don’t respond to an email or text about an unspecified delivery that has to be rebooked.
