During this week’s town council meeting, council received a heartfelt letter from First Nations Technical Institute, thanking the assistance from the Greater Napanee Fire Department at their airport, the Mohawk aerodrome, during a fire in late February.
In the letter they noted firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to their other structures, saving their student residence, the aviation simulator building and their Indigenous Learning Centre.
FNTI president Suzanne Brant said in the letter, “We are so thankful to have you all keeping our communities safe and words simply cannot express how very grateful we are to have your exemplary members giving of themselves to preserve and protect our lives and our livelihoods.”
