The Town of Greater Napanee will see many tractor trailers passing through along Highway 401 heading east this week. As part of Convoy for Freedom hosted by Canada Unity, a group will be occupying the Marysville overpass on Thursday January 27th at approximately 3:30pm, to cheer on the convoy participants. The convoy, who are protesting vaccine mandates, will be passing through on their way to Kingston, where they are to arrive at around 5pm.
This is meant to be a peaceful convoy and all participants have signed a code of conduct. Those who do not adhere to the code will be removed from the convoy. The Convoy for Freedom is expected to arrive in Ottawa on Saturday, January 29th.
The OPP East Region are advising drivers, to be prepared for potential slowdowns on all Highways across the East Region Thursday to Saturday. Highways to possibly be effected include Highway 401, Highway 416, Highway 417 and Highway 17.
