The Quinte West Detachment of the OPP would like to remind members of the public about the program “Project Safe Trade”.
The purpose of Project Safe Trade is to create a ‘community safe zone’ at an OPP detachment parking lot in which to facilitate online property transactions. Creating a “community safe zone” is about moving online transactions away from secluded parking lots, personal residences or other areas and bringing them to a public place.
They are inviting members of the public to use the OPP ‘safe trade’ designated parking space at their detachment, located at 3 Dixon Drive in Trenton. The safe trade parking space is available at all times with no appointment necessary and is also available at the Bancroft, Central Hastings, and Prince Edward County Detachments.
The OPP will not mediate transactions, provide documentation or be a witness to a transaction, however if an officer is requested, one will respond and only intervene if the transaction becomes a criminal matter.
