An unveiling ceremony and dedication was held Friday in remembrance of Constable Richard Beard, who was killed in the line of duty in downtown Napanee on August 28th, 1921.
Both former police officers themselves, Greater Napanee Town Councilors Bob Norrie and Terry Richardson were encouraged by members of the community to establish the memorial. Norrie explains why the dedication is important.
Constable Beard’s great granddaughter, Karen Mezciems was at the ceremony.
