KFL&A Public Health has identified three places in Loyalist Township, where swimming is deemed as unsafe this week, prompting the beaches to be closed temporarily. Back Beach and Sand Beach on Amherst Island and Centennial Beach in Bath are the locations where swimming should not be happening. Signs warning against swimming are posted when beach conditions pose a potential health risk to bathers. Most often the posting of a beach is due to high levels of bacteria in the water. Before you head out to swim, you are encouraged to check the status of all Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington area beaches on Public Health’s website.
