An ad campaign is underway in Ontario to steer young people towards skilled trades training. The Ford government says the ads are one part of a strategy that includes investing $75 million in three programs to expose high school students to the trades. According to provincial data, during the first nine months of last year Ontario employers had, on average, more than 200 thousand total job openings. 13,000 were in the construction sector. The Minister of Labour says Ontario needs to do a better job of selling skilled trades as a viable first option for employment.
