Mayor’s from six local municipalities including Greater Napanee want quick action to deal with high water levels on Lake Ontario.
Mayor Marg Isbester joined mayors from Belleville, Brighton, County of Prince Edward, Quinte West and Tyendinagaat a meeting in Quinte West yesterday to discuss concerns surrounding the local water levels.
Citing shoreline damage caused by spring flooding over a three year period, the mayors have issued a joint statement urging authorities to abandon current policy.
Several years ago the International Joint Commission opted to raise the water levels in the Great Lakes due in part to shipping needs and keeping area wetlands healthy.
