Ontario Provincial Police have dismantled suspected illegal cannabis production sites in Stone Mills Township and Madoc, seizing more than $1.8 million in cannabis and stolen property.
The investigations began in September 2026 and involved the OPP Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team.
On Oct. 7, officers executed a search warrant at a property on County Road 41 in Stone Mills Township. They seized 409 cannabis plants valued at about $245,000, processed cannabis worth approximately $960,000 and a stolen vehicle valued at $80,000.
Officials also identified fire, electrical and property safety concerns. Fire officials issued fines, municipal by-law officials issued compliance orders and hydro service was disconnected because of safety risks.
In a separate investigation, officers searched a property on Cooper Road in Madoc on the same day. They seized 663 cannabis plants valued at approximately $663,000.
Several OPP units assisted with the searches, including emergency response teams and asset forfeiture units.
No individuals were found at either property during the searches. Both investigations remain ongoing.
Anyone with information about illegal cannabis production or sales can contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
