Halloween gets a little darker in Kingston this October as Fort Fright returns to Fort Henry, turning the historic landmark into a maze of monsters, mystery and unexpected scares.
The annual attraction promises a revamped experience this year, with more scare actors, new props and costumes, refreshed lighting and enhanced special effects. Visitors will encounter live performers, movie-quality animatronics and plenty of surprises throughout the fort’s tunnels, pathways and dark corners.
The Fort’s Shannon Bone gives us a terror-teaser of what to expect
One of the biggest additions for 2026 is “The Following,” a new sensory-driven haunted maze for guests aged 16 and older. Participants wear a blackout mask and are guided by a handrail through a disorienting journey featuring moving floors, eerie sounds and other unsettling surprises.
There’s also a Monster Hunt, where guests can test their archery skills, along with tarot readings, coffin rides, photo opportunities and horror-themed food and entertainment.
For those looking for an extra challenge, Dark Nights return on select Thursdays in October. The attraction is experienced in near-total darkness, with visitors relying on a flashlight to find their way through. It’s a whole new way to experience the Fort according to Bone.
Fort Fright has been running since 2008 and has grown into a major fall tourism attraction, drawing thousands of visitors from across Ontario and beyond.
Fort Fright runs October 9th through 11th, 16th through 18th and 23rd through 31st. Dark Nights are October 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th. Tickets and all the scary details are available at fortfright.com.
