Local professionals are preparing to trade their business suits for rock-and-roll gear in a unique fundraising event supporting United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington.
United We Rock: Professionals Off the Clock will bring together local business and community members for an evening of live music, with some familiar faces taking on a very different role.
The November 18th event at The Ale House and Canteen in downtown Kingston will feature two local bands made up of professionals who are putting their musical talents to work for a good cause.
Organizer and participating drummer Jeff Hanley explains the concept.
The featured group, Work in Progress, includes Pat Murphy, Hanley, Cormac Trainor, Zeke Cox and Steve Gammon. They’ll be joined by Harriett Ave, featuring Matt Benson, Rob Maratta, Mike McKitrick, Roch Dupuis, Matt Knowles and Julia McDonnell.
Beyond the entertainment, the evening is designed to raise funds and awareness for United Way KFL&A, which supports a network of local agencies and programs helping thousands of people throughout the region.
With rising demands for community services, events like this provide another opportunity to bring people together, encourage local giving and support neighbours who may be facing difficult circumstances.
Hanley notes that because of the generosity of everyone involved, this event will be a solid boost for the fall campaign.
United We Rock takes place Wednesday, November 18th, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. The event is for those 19 and older.
Tickets are available through United Way KFL&A’s online ticket page at unitedwaykfla.ca/get-involved/events.
