Napanee River Tours is celebrating a nomination as one of Ontario’s top three tourism attractions after welcoming nearly 21,000 passengers in its first five years of operation.
Owner Jane Adams-Roy says the recognition was a pleasant surprise for the business, which launched in June 2021.
She says being nominated alongside established attractions was a major achievement, even though the business did not win. The Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough took home the award.
Napanee River Tours has also hosted more than 200 private charters, including weddings, milestone birthdays and celebrations of life.
Adams-Roy says the tours are bringing visitors from across Ontario and beyond, creating benefits for other local businesses.
She estimates Napanee River Tours and the waterfront generate about $1.7 million in revenue for the municipality alone.
Adams-Roy says encouraging visitors to explore local shops, restaurants, parks and other attractions is important to keeping tourism dollars in the community.
She believes Napanee’s combination of small-town charm and quality local businesses gives visitors plenty of reasons to stay.
