The Ontario Provincial Police are reminding residents to stay safe this Halloween, with trick-or-treaters and partygoers expected to be out Saturday night.
L&A County OPP Const. Martyn Curran says children should wear bright, reflective clothing and carry flashlights or glow sticks to improve visibility after dark.
He says most importantly, never enter a stranger’s home or vehicle while you’re trick-or-treating.
Drivers are also being urged to slow down, avoid distractions and watch for children crossing between parked vehicles.
With Halloween falling on a Saturday, parties and social gatherings may also increase the risk of impaired driving.
The OPP will continue conducting roadside RIDE checks, with checks increasing during special occasions.
The OPP wish everyone a safe and happy Halloween!
