Greater Napanee’s elected officials are looking forward to the next four years after Monday’s municipal election.
A total of 5,124 ballots were cast, representing a voter turnout of 33.58 per cent.
Acclaimed Mayor Terry Richardson said council is ready to continue its work.
Brian Calver leads the deputy mayor race with 2,508 votes, ahead of Blair Campbell with 1,420 and Rennie Hutzler with 1,104.
Calver said he was excited that residents supported him in the Oct. 26 municipal election and gave him the opportunity to continue in the role.
Looking ahead, Calver said he is eager to see community grant funding become available. The municipality expects to receive between $1.1 million and $1.2 million annually for more than 20 years.
He said the funding will help council address community needs after focusing on improving the municipality’s finances during the previous term.
Calver also said he may seek the deputy warden position at the county level. He believes his experience as deputy mayor will help him take on additional responsibilities while continuing to serve Greater Napanee residents.
Ward 5 Coun. Bill Martin thanked voters for giving him another term and recognized the challenges faced by unsuccessful candidates. He secured Ward 5 with 555 votes.
Newly elected Coun. Michelle Edgar said she was grateful to residents who voted. She won Ward 4 with 567.
