Ontario residents aged six months and older can now receive free flu and COVID-19 vaccines at participating pharmacies, public health units and doctors’ offices.
The Ministry of Health announced the expanded availability on Monday, Oct. 26, encouraging residents to get vaccinated ahead of the fall and winter respiratory illness season.
The province says receiving both vaccines during the same appointment is safe and recommended. Vaccination can help prevent serious illness, reduce the spread of respiratory viruses and lower the risk of hospitalization.
Ontario is also offering respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) immunizations to eligible groups. RSV vaccines are recommended for adults aged 75 and older, along with certain high-risk adults aged 60 to 74.
The province’s RSV prevention programs also cover eligible infants and high-risk children under two years old. Pregnant women can receive an RSV vaccine to help protect their babies at birth.
Residents unsure about their vaccine eligibility can contact a health-care provider or local public health unit.
