Rehabilitation work on County Road 49 in Prince Edward County continues this week, with drivers facing delays of five to 10 minutes.
The county says rubblization of the existing concrete roadway has continued past the Heidelberg Materials cement plant at 1370 County Road 49.
The work is expected to be completed within the next two weeks.
The first layer of base paving is complete to just north of Bethesda Road. Granular shouldering and a second layer of base paving are progressing south from the northern project limits. Base paving is expected to continue throughout next week.
Both lanes of traffic will reopen at the end of each construction day. The contractor is also applying calcium and water as needed to control dust on gravel sections.
The county says alternate routes may offer little time savings. Drivers using County Roads 5 and 15 should obey speed limits and drive cautiously.
