A fire at Kimco Steel in Kingston has been contained after about 75 firefighters responded Thursday morning.
Kingston Fire & Rescue says crews were notified of the fire at 1325 John Counter Boulevard at about 8:40 a.m. on Oct. 22.
About 18 fire apparatus attended, with additional help from Loyalist Township and South Frontenac.
The fire started in an outdoor pile of materials. Firefighters worked with excavators to separate the materials and put out remaining hot spots. One fire apparatus remains at the scene to monitor conditions.
No injuries have been reported, and damage estimates are not yet available.
Kingston Fire & Rescue says it had identified fire safety concerns at the property before Thursday’s incident and issued an inspection order outlining required corrective measures. The department continues to work with the property owner to address outstanding concerns.
