Construction on County Road 49 in Prince Edward County will resume toda, following a pause for the Thanksgiving long weekend.
The county says paving began October 9 near County Road 15, also known as Northport Road. Rubblization, which breaks up the existing concrete road surface, has advanced to Bethesda Road, covering more than nine kilometres of the 18-kilometre project.
The concrete breaker machine has also returned to service following repairs. Culvert replacement work is complete, along with subdrain installation north of County Road 6.
Crews will continue paving and rubblization this week and install subdrain south of County Road 6.
Drivers can expect delays of five to 10 minutes while travelling through the construction zone. Both lanes will reopen at the end of each workday.
The county says alternate routes may offer little time savings. Drivers using County Roads 5 and 15 should obey speed limits and drive carefully in residential and rural areas.
