It was a fun Friday night at the Best and Bash Arena as the Napanee Raiders hosted the Trent Hills Thunder.
A familiar name was back on the sheet tonight, as former Raiders goalie Logan Vale returned to Napanee, but with his new team. After two seasons with the Raiders, Vale played last season in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, playing Junior A hockey with the Espanola Paper Kings. He was acquired by the Thunder earlier this summer.
The Raiders went up 2-0 in the first period, thanks to goals by Ryan Aldridge and Carter Slaven. In the second period Trent Hills has the only team to find the back of the net for a 2-1 Raiders lead. The Raiders went up 3-1 in the third, thanks to a goal by Mason Goodfellow. Then with one second left, the Thunder managed to sneak one past Brown for a 3-2 final. Raidrs win!
Raiders goalie Jacob Brown made 23 saves on 25 shots on goal.
Standings update: The Napanee Raiders are at the top of the East Tod Division standings with a 4-0 record and 8 points.
Elsewhere in the division: Thursday night, Picton had an OT win, 2-1, over Lakefield, then Frankford beat Port Hope 10-0. No other teams were in action Friday night. On Saturday Picton plays at Frankford and Port Hope will host Lakefield, then on Sunday Trent Hills hosts Frankford.
The Raiders return to action: Friday, Oct. 2nd they’ll host the Frankford Huskies. Puck drop at 7:30pm. Then on Sunday, Oct. 4th, they’ll play the Jets in Amherstview for the first time this season. Puck drop at 7:30pm.
