The Napanee Raiders are keeping their winning ways going during their second weekend of the season.
Friday night, the Raiders hosted the Frankford Huskies for the first matchup this season. It was scoreless in the first period, taking us to the second, where Frankford opened the scoring. Tanner Hawkins then scored for the Raiders to tie the game. Mason Goodfellow would then score the Raiders second of the night for a 2-1 lead to end the period. Brody Nielissen secured the Raiders lead nearing the half way point of the third period for a 3-1 lead. Then with 22 second left, Hawkins scored his second of the night on the Empty Net to secure the Raiders 4-1 win!
Raiders goalie Jacob Brown made 35 saves on 36 shots on goal.
Saturday night, the Raiders played their first road game of the season in Port Hope against the Panthers. It was a one sided first period, with Mason Goodfellow earning a Hat Trick within 8-minutes and a goal by Jared Burgess for a 4-0 lead. Port Hope scored early in the second to earn their first goal of the season in their second game. From there Napanee would score 5 more, by Tyson Carr, Keenan Downey, Goodfellow, Derien Smith and Ben Kerr, to take a 9-1 lead. Port Hope scored their second of the game to open the third period, which was quickly answered by Carter Slaven for a 10-2 lead. Late in the period Ethan Boutilier scored twice to lead to a 12-2 Raiders win!
Raiders goalie Denholm Blair made 21 saves on 23 shots on goal.
The Napanee Raiders are at the top of the East Tod Division standings with a 3-0 record and 6 points.
Elsewhere in the division this weekend, Saturday night the Amherstview Jets defeated the Trent Hills Thunder 3-0. Looking to Sunday, the Jets will host the Picton Pirates at 7:30pm.
The Raiders return to action Friday, Sept. 25th when they’ll host the Trent Hills Thunder. Puck drop at 7:30pm.
