As combines roll into the fields and harvest season hits full stride, safety officials are urging farmers to stay mindful of fire risks on the job.
The Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal is reminding farmers to take precautions against fires during the harvest season.
Dry crops, dust and hot machinery can all increase the risk of a fire on the farm.
Farmers are being urged to keep equipment clean and well maintained, and keep dry crops, straw and grass away from hot engines.
The Fire Marshal also recommends keeping a fire extinguisher nearby, taking regular breaks to inspect machinery and staying alert while working.
