Coffee Day returns to Napanee on Thursday, Sept. 17, raising money for local dementia care.
The Alzheimer Society of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington is partnering with participating McDonald’s restaurants in KFL&A for the annual fundraiser ahead of World Alzheimer’s Day on Sept. 21.
McDonald’s will donate 50 cents from every medium, large and extra-large coffee sold that day. Volunteers will also accept donations at participating restaurants and drive-thrus.
Funds will stay in the local community and support programs, education, support groups and resources for people living with dementia and their care partners.
More than 600,000 Canadians are living with dementia, including about 334,500 Ontarians. The number is expected to nearly triple by 2050.
The Alzheimer Society is encouraging residents, workplaces, community groups and organizations to take part by buying a coffee, donating or sharing information about dementia services.
Organizers say every purchase and donation helps provide support close to home.
