Car enthusiasts and families will have a chance to take in a wide variety of classic and vintage vehicles when the Verona Lions host their 31st annual charity car show on Saturday, September 19.
The event will be held at the Verona Lions Centre on Sand Road, with the show running from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Peak viewing hours are usually from 10 am to 3 pm.
The show will feature vintage cars in 26 categories, along with a kids’ area, live music, food and activities for the whole family.
Organizer John Nizman sets the scene.
The show has become a major fundraiser for local charitable organizations. Last year’s event attracted more than 150 classic car owners and more than 100 volunteers, raising $12,000 for community groups, with the Lions contributing an additional $700.
Organizers say the event is about more than just the cars — it’s also an opportunity for people to get together, enjoy the entertainment and help raise money that stays in the local community.
It also brings a unique atmosphere, according to Nizman, that you won’t find at most car shows.
The event takes place at 4504 Sand Road in Verona, with admission by donation and refreshments and food available.
