The Napanee Raiders had a strong start to the 2026-27 regular season, walking away winner of game 1.
Friday, September 11th the Raiders hosted their home season opener against the Lakefield Chiefs.
Lakefield scored first early in the first, which was answered by two Raiders goals, scored by Ryan Aldridge and Brody Neilson. In the second period the Chiefs score their second of the game to tie things 2-2 heading into the third. In the final period of play, Mason Goodfellow scored twice, the second on an empty net, to secure their first win! Jacob Brown was in net, making 38 saves on 40 shots on goal.
The Napanee Raiders finish the first weekend of the regular season with a 1-0 record and 2 points, among the top teams who also won their openers in the East Tod Division.
Elsewhere in the division, on Saturday Amherstview won their season opener 7-0 over Port Hope. Both Picton games would go to a shootout, losing 5-4 to Frankford on Saturday, then falling 2-1 against Tent Hills on Sunday. Elsewhere Sunday night, in Amherstview’s home opener, they fell 4-1 to Frankford.
The Raiders return to action Friday, September 18th, when they will be hosting the Frankford Huskies at the Best and Bash Arena. Puck drop is 7:30pm. On Saturday, Sept. 19th they’ll play their first road game against Port Hope. Puck drop at 7:30pm.
