Construction is underway on Greater Napanee’s in-town trail, with crews beginning work along the route this week.
Initial work includes site preparation, grading and staking. The first phase will see base stone placed along the former CN spur line trail bed, from Dairy Avenue to Industrial Boulevard, then toward Camden Road and the Highway 401 bridge.
Further phases will extend the trail to Crouse Street, County Road 1 and the east side of Church Street, including a connector loop north of Riverside Cemetery.
Residents may encounter temporary closures, construction traffic, noise and dust. The Town is asking people to follow posted signs and respect safety barriers.
Once completed, the trail will provide a route for walking, cycling, running and other recreational activities, while improving active transportation connections.
The project has a $70,000 capital budget allocation, funded through development charges, along with $151,255 in in-kind staff labour and equipment.
Completion is expected by mid-to-late October.
