Cyclists are getting ready to take to the roads of southern Lennox and Addington County next month for the 11th annual Discover L&A Ride.
The 56-kilometre non-competitive tour is set for Sept. 12, starting and finishing at Bergeron Estate Winery in Adolphustown.
Naturally L&A’s Rob Plumley shared with myFM the event offers more than a day of cycling.
The route follows paved roads along the Lake Ontario shoreline and passes through areas including Bath, Gap Park and Old Hay Bay Church. Five rest stops will offer water, food and entertainment before riders return to the winery for wine, cider, craft beer and local soda.
Plumley said the event attracts cyclists from outside the region, including visitors from Toronto and Ottawa.
Registration is open at discoverride.ca, with tickets costing $40. Organizers are encouraging early registration because the ride has sold out in previous years.
The ride runs rain or shine. Check-in is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with departure at 10:30 a.m.
