Belleville police have charged a 53-year-old Tyendinaga man with several offences after he allegedly failed to stop for officers late Tuesday.
Police said officers spotted a vehicle near Dundas and Burnham streets at about 11:26 p.m. on Aug. 11 and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle continued driving before eventually pulling into a parking lot.
Officers spoke with the driver, and a woman later arrived and said he was there to pick her up.
Police determined the man was subject to several court-ordered conditions, including an order not to communicate with the woman.
The man was arrested and charged with failing or refusing to comply with a demand, three counts of failing to comply with a release order, driving while suspended and failing to stop for police.
He also faces Highway Traffic Act charges involving an insecure load, failing to surrender his licence, failing to provide a breath sample as a novice driver and driving with a G1 licence without a qualified accompanying driver.
He was held for a bail hearing.
