The Napanee Raiders are welcoming hometown defenceman Carter Hartwick back to their blue line for the upcoming season.
The 19-year-old has 48 PJHL playoff games under his belt, including runs that helped the Raiders win Tod Division titles in 2024 and 2025. He also spent last season playing Junior A hockey with the Navan Grads and Wellington Dukes.
Hartwick recorded two goals and four assists in 13 games with Navan before joining Wellington, where he played 24 regular-season games and three playoff games.
The defenceman says his Junior A experience helped him improve. “The year of Junior A helped me scan the ice and make plays a lot quicker as it is higher paced,” Hartwick shared in a release. “I think fans will notice my skating ability has continued to develop in addition to my hockey IQ and leadership skills.”
Raiders head coach Ben Hagerman expects Hartwick to take on a larger role this season. “Carter was a staple in our lineup for two long playoff runs and will be counted on in an increased role this season.”
Hartwick is also beginning a commerce program at St. Lawrence College. He hopes the Raiders can compete for another Schmalz Cup.
Napanee opens preseason Aug. 28 against Trent Hills, with the regular season expected to begin Sept. 11.
