Free clinics offering identification and employment support are coming to Madoc and Bancroft this month.
The Centre for Workforce Development will host drop-in clinics Aug. 18 at the Madoc Kiwanis Club and Aug. 20 at St. John’s Anglican Church in Bancroft. Both clinics will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The clinics are aimed at vulnerable, low-income and unhoused people who may face barriers because they lack government-issued identification.
Support will be available to obtain or replace birth certificates, Social Insurance Numbers, Ontario Health Cards and Ontario Photo ID Cards. Attendees can also get help with job searches, employment services and training opportunities.
Organizers will connect people with housing supports, income assistance, health care and other community programs.
CFWD held a similar North Hastings clinic last fall, helping 30 people access 177 services.
The initiative is supported by Hastings County through its Homelessness Prevention Program.
