The rumours are true! Costco Wholesale has confirmed plans to build a new $37 million warehouse and gas bar on Bell Boulevard in Belleville, with construction expected to be completed in late 2027, the Belleville Intelligencer reports.
Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis announced the project during Monday’s city council meeting, saying the company plans to build a 167,000-square-foot warehouse and an 8,000-square-foot gas bar on property west of TownePlace Suites by Marriott and Shorelines Casino Belleville.
A draft site plan agreement is now before Costco. Once it is approved, the city can issue a building permit. Site preparation is expected to begin this fall, with construction starting in the spring and completion anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2027.
Ellis said the Belleville location will be larger than the Costco stores in Kingston and Peterborough.
The city expects the development to create new jobs and provide an economic boost for Belleville as the project moves forward.
