The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is expanding emergency support for pets and families affected by wildfires across Northern Ontario.
The organization is working with emergency response partners to help evacuated residents keep their animals safe and together during the ongoing crisis. Support includes pet-friendly housing assistance, emergency boarding, pet food, supplies and veterinary care.
About 75,000 pounds of emergency dog food is being sent to Northern Ontario to help replenish supplies already distributed to families impacted by the wildfires. The Ontario SPCA is also providing items such as crates, leashes, collars, bowls and other essentials.
The organization is offering veterinary services, including health checks, vaccinations and telehealth support for pets affected by the fires.
