A Prince Edward County resident is facing impaired driving charges after a concerned citizen reported a suspected impaired driver in Wellington.
Prince Edward County Ontario Provincial Police responded to the traffic complaint shortly after 5 p.m. on July 4. Officers located the suspect vehicle parked in Wellington and arrested the driver following an investigation. The individual was taken to the detachment for further testing.
Police charged 62-year-old David Tobin of Wellington with operation while impaired by alcohol and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
Tobin was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Court in Picton at a later date.
In addition to the criminal charges, police issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and impounded the vehicle for seven days.
The Prince Edward County OPP said it continues to target impaired driving through proactive enforcement and by investigating public complaints. Police also reminded residents to call 9-1-1 immediately if they suspect an impaired driver, as the offence remains entirely preventable.
