Tyendinaga Township has launched a new cycling wayfinding network thanks to a $97,000 Seed grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The project features six signed cycling routes ranging from 14 to 49 kilometres, giving residents and visitors new opportunities to explore the township’s quiet gravel roads and scenic countryside. Permanent wayfinding signs guide riders along each route, while the free Ride with GPS app offers digital navigation.
A new information kiosk at the Tyendinaga Recreation Complex provides route maps, free helmet and reflective vest loans, and bike repair tools.
The launch also includes a season of free community programming, including monthly group rides and family-friendly cycling events throughout the summer and fall.
The project was delivered by Belleville-based BOQ.BIKE and is the first permanent cycling wayfinding network in Hastings County. Township officials say the initiative will promote active living, encourage tourism, and make cycling more accessible for residents and visitors alike.
